Conference venue

The Conference will be held in the main building of ETH Zurich, above the Zurich old town and within walking distance of the main railway station, various accommodation options, and the conference social events.
The ‘Poly’ – the locals’ name for the building with its impressive cupola – was built in the 1860s by Gottfried Semper (1803-1879), a professor of architecture at ETH. The neoclassic building annually hosts the biggest decorated ball in Europe, since the 1880s. On clear days, you can spot the Alps from the Polyterrasse.
You can reach the conference venue by tram or the historic ‘Polybahn’ funicular. The latter runs from Central up to Polyterrasse, where you enjoy a picturesque view over the roofs of the old town and the lake.
